Every Wednesday, from Feb 3 to March 9, 2016, the Mannford Church of Christ conducts Lunch and Bible Study lessons at the Mannford Activity Center.
The Mannford Church of Christ minister, Tony Keesee, and the church members have kept the tradition of winter Bible clases alive since 2006.
Keesee is also the main speaker at the classes. He has served as the minister in Mannford for the last 21 years.
Previously, Keesee worked for the Church of Christ in Australia and Kansas. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Oklahoma Christian University and a Masters Degree in Ministry from the Harding Graduate School of Theology.
This year, the main topic at the Bible lessons in Mannford is “How the Old Testament Helps Us Understand the New Testament.”
At the Feb 10, 2016 lesson, Keesee expressed his thoughts and his church’s teachings on the subject of priests and priestood.
“Priests are mediators between God and the people,” he said. “The first priests were mentioned in the Old Testament.”
Keesee made an interesting reference to history when he described Old Testament priest’s clothing.
“The priests dressed differently,” he explained. “They wore layers of clothing and the upper robe was decorated with 12 precious stones representing the 12 tribes of Israel.”
“Also, all priests were from the tribe of Levites in the Old Testament,” the minister added.
“Jesus’s sacrifice changed everything; the Law (Mosaic Law) and and the Priestood,” Keesee continued. “Jesus’s sacrifice was for all time and for everybody, back to Adam’s time. Jesus is our high priest.”
The Keesee talk and atmosphere at the lesson was inspirational, spiritual and motivating.
“God is Holy,” the minister said. “He is completely separate from sin. He created mankind for a purpose.”
The lesson started and finished with prayers in the name of Jesus Christ.
A free lunch was offered for all students at the class. Some listeners approached Keesee with various questions after the talk. He gladly answered the questions.
The Mannford Church of Christ also will have a Vacation Bible School for children and adults in June and a new, special series teaching about angels in the fall of 2016.
Additionally, the church offers Bible classes every Wednesday evening, Bible correspondence courses, home Bible studies and literature.
