Here Comes Santa!! The annual Mannford Christmas Parade went off without a hitch this year. The rain held off long enough for all 27 floats, cars, decorated golf carts and horses to make their way through town. This year Tess Maune from Channel 6 News was the Grand Marshall. She was driven by Bob and Carol Berryman in a new Ford Mustang donated by Bob Hurley Ford. Berryman received the “Lifetime Achievement” Award back in January for his many years of service to the town and Chamber.
There was a wonderful turnout of people this year as both sides of the street were lined from the Dollar General all the way to the Subway. In addition, vendors set up in front of the flower shop and hot chocolate was served at the First Baptist Church.Children lined the streets to catch their share of buckets and buckets of candy that were tossed about as the sirens from the police and fire trucks sounded through the springlike breeze. The sounds of the Mannford High School marching band playing Christmas songs also filled the air to complete the celebration of this holiday season.
“This was a really good turnout, considering the weather scare,” said Mayor Tyler Buttram. “Just 30 minutes before the start of the parade I was afraid we were going to have to cancel But, Mother Nature being a huge fan of Santa, the rain held off and the town got to enjoy another fun filled Mannford Christmas Parade,” Buttram added.
As for the float winners, judges gave the honor of first place to Little Pirates Daycare. Second place honor was bestowed to the Mannford 4-H club, while Myriah Thompson School of Dance was awarded third place.
