Mannford Man Makes Run From Creek County Deputy

There are lots of adages pertaining to a Mannford man’s recent predicament. Perhaps, ‘you can’t outrun a radio, or ‘the long arm of the law has a long reach, will work. Maybe even, ‘you can run but you can’t hide’ will work too. Which ever adage it should be, he probably should have listened to its message before putting them to the test.
Chad Hutchinson (43) allegedly sped past Creek County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Pompa recently while he was patrolling Hwy 33 near 241st West Avenue, according to an affidavit.
It may have been one thing to pass a vehicle driving the speed limit, but to do it while passing on the right and straddling the center lane for 200 yard, well that has ‘pull over sirens’ all over it. Pompa initiated a traffic stop. When he asked for Hutchinson’s drivers license, he was informed that the driver did not have one.
As he was reviewing his insurance form, he noticed the odor of alcohol coming from Hutchinson. Pompa then asked if he had been drinking. To which he replied, “ya, I’ve had a few,” according to the affidavit. Apparently knowing the gig was up, but still not heeding any warning from those old adage, he sped off while Pompa was in his patrol car doing a records search, the affidavit reads.
Pompa immediately radioed dispatch that he had a runner and began pursuit with Hutchinson reaching speeds of 75 mph. However, upon reaching 209th West Avenue, he apparently heeded those old adage warnings and pulled his vehicle over. Pompa prepared to make a felony arrest and ordered Hutchinson out of the vehicle. He did not initially comply with the first few orders and stayed inside his car. Once he finally exited the vehicle, Pompa approached him and ordered him to lay on the ground. As he began to make the arrest, Hutchinson resisted and began moving his arms about in an attempt to not be handcuffed. Pompa then placed his knee in the back of Hutchinson’s neck and completed the arrest, according to the affidavit.
He was arrested on Open Container, DUI Third or Subsequent Felony Offense, Resisting Executive Officer and Eluding a Police Officer. He was transported to the Creek County Jail.
