MECC The Early Childhood students are anxiously awaiting their May Fun Day. It is a day filled with fun activities inside and outside the building. It includes giant inflatables for jumping and play. The fun day concludes at noon with PreK picnics and Kindergarten pizza parties.
PreK – have been practicing the alphabet in sign language, learning new songs about going to kindergarten, and working on Mother’s Day gifts
Kindergarten continues to study plants, terrariums and ladybugs.
Kindergarten has been practicing very hard for their graduation, taking pictures in caps and gowns and getting excited about becoming first graders!
MES First grade is finishing out the year with a bang! We ended our animal unit by creating iMovies with our iPads. Check them out on our Mannford Elementary Youtube channel. Each class is now studying a different country and then will share what they have learned with all the other first grades at our World Tour on May 12. We are going to the Zoo on May 11th. This has been an amazing year!
Did you know that 11 fifth graders read at least 8 Sequoyah Award-nominated books, and will be getting new books from 2016 Sequoyah Middle School list? They’re also going on a field trip to celebrate. Rilynn Baker even read the ENTIRE collection of nominated books for this year-WAY TO GO!
Did you know that the elementary library won a grant for most innovative technology to add 6 more iPad minis to the elementary school’s collection? We are finding more and more exciting ways to use them every day! Thank you to the Oklahoma Association of Elementary School Principals!

Third graders finished preparing and took their state reading and math tests. They worked hard and we are very proud of them! To celebrate their hard work, they will take a trip to Chandler Park. They will enjoy a picnic, candy, and games.
After testing, students learned all about oil and natural gas and how the Oklahoma Energy Resource Board is vital in Oklahoma. They did several experiments throughout the week. They built simple machines to demonstrate kinetic and potential energy, made and drilled for “oil” in bread fossils, and

built oil derricks out of straws, just to name a few. From this program, OERB pays for all of our third grade students to attend the Oklahoma Science Museum in OKC. Students cannot wait to attend! They are also looking forward to a spelling bee, game day, a good behavior trip to the local park, and talent show during the last week of school!
