Gournet shaved ice has come to Mannford in the form of Harper’s Hut. Mannford’s newest business is located just east of Phelp’s Market on highway 51. The owners,

 William and Lindsay Nozak

have made Mannford their third location after Sand Springs and Glenpool.
Celebrating life is the theme of the business and has a special meaning to the Nozak’s as they named the business after their son Harper who they lost at birth. But to be around William and Lindsay is to feel that life is truly a celebration. Watching several customers eating their products shows that the celebration is contagious.
William was a teacher for ten years and the Director of Education at the American Institute of Medical Technology for four years. He has a Masters of Business degree and wanted to branch out and own his own business. After Harper’s death he and Lindsay decided to move forward and they began Harper’s Hut.
William said he was looking for a location and met Jarred McLaughlin, owner of Phelps Market. Jarred’s enthusiasm about our community and the great location was enough to convince William and Lindsay to locate their business here.
Harper’s Hut, with over 50 flavors, opened officially on Friday, April 10th. They will be open during the Spring months from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday thru Thursday, from 4:00 PM to 10:30 PM on Friday, 12:30 PM to 10:30 PM on Saturday and from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday. Summer hours will begin as soon is school is finished. Those hours will be 2:00 PM to 10:30 Monday thru Saturday and from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday. It will close for the season at the end of September.

The business will employ from six to ten people. The desire is to fully staff with local people and openings are available. To apply people can go to their Facebook page or stop by the Hut and apply in person. Only people oriented applicants will be considered.
Besides their Hut on Highway 51, Harper’s Hut is available for birthdays and any and all special events. They will set up a tent and bring their mobile unit wherever they are invited too. Look for them at the Sand Springs Herbal Affair and Festival on April 18th and other locations throughout the summer months.
Starting in Summer, free family movies will be shown on either Friday or Saturday night. What better way is there to enjoy a warm summer night than surrounded by family and friends, watching family oriented movies and staying cool with gourmet shaved ices.
William and Lindsay very much want to be a part of our wonderful community, not only by serving a delicious product but by giving back to Mannford as well. We know they will be a great addition to the Mannford business family as they share their celebration of life. And their celebration will continue as Lindsay is expecting and due in the summer.
