Creek County Retired Educators Association is really active! Several retired *Mannford educators not only attend meetings, but have stepped up to hold offices this year.
Sandy Wittenborn is taking the helm as president, Judy Powell, vice president in charge of programs, Nannette Tressner, treasurer, Susan Main, secretary, Linda Turner, membership chair, Barbara Morris, volunteer director,Trudi Barnett, scholarship chair and Judy Clow, call tree chair.
CCREA kicked of their school year with a meeting in August featuring the Made in Oklahoma Coalition. They were treated to some samples as doorprizes and introduced to several new products made in–Oklahoma!
On September 30, they will be attending the delegate assembly in Tulsa for the Oklahoma Retired Education Association, OREA.
Their next meeting will be on October 5, featuring legislative updates by our senator and representatives. The annual coat drive will also begin in October and continue through November.
The November 2 meeting will host the Oklahoma Emergency Management Team and the December 7 date will feature the Bristow music department to liven up the holiday season. December is also the season for a little gift-giving, so there will be a book exchange where everyone can share favorite books.
During January and February, CCREA will be taking a break, to resume on March 7 with a special guest, John Mark Young, a Sapulpa attorney, to speak on the topic of history.
April 4 will bring sunshine (hopefully) and the Tulsa Herbal Society out.
And at the last school year meeting, on May 2, they will present their 2016 scholarship winners and celebrate summer and the installation of the new officers.
Every year CCREA gives away two scholarships to graduating seniors, and those scholarships are matched by American Heritage Bank. They volunteer in our schools. They stay current on legislative and educational policies and help spread information.
Membership is growing, and CCREA is proud of having such a great group of educators and support staff so active in our community. Meetings are held at Freddie’s Steak House in Sapulpa, on the above-mentioned dates, at 11:15. And…there are door prizes! So come on out!
