Back in the heyday of Psychedelic music, The band The Doors recorded the song The Crystal Ship. Perhaps today that song would have been titled The Crystal Highway. Mannford Police Officer Johnny Porter recently arrested a man transporting Crystal Methamphetamine, which is yet another example of the many arrests in recent years pertaining to meth and the trafficking of the illegal substance in the area. On February 20, Porter observed a silver pickup truck heading westbound on Hwy 51 that crossed the centerline three times. Activating his emergency lights for a traffic stop, he approached the vehicle to make contact with Anthony Wayne Robinson of Jennings (33). For a man who was packing an illegal substance in his groin area that could carry “trafficking’ ramifications upon a guilty outcome in a court of law, Robinson appeared to be polite and accommodating to Porter, according to how the affidavit reads. His politeness, however, did not hide his nervousness, according to Porter’s description of the initial contact in the affidavit. Porter noticed Robinson to be very sweaty and making “frantic” reaching movements about the cab of the truck. In addition, Robinson had a wet spot on his pants in the groin area. Porter asked him why he was nervous and if he had wet on himself. Robinson explained that he became nervous after realizing that he was being pulled over. He then dropped his water on his lap. His willingness to cooperate continued though and he provided permission for Porter to search his vehicle. Upon exiting the truck, Porter began a pat down for weapons. Robinson immediately reached for his groin area in a frantic and hurried motion. protecting an obvious bulge. Although it was not a gun, at this point, it is doubtful that the bulge was because he was happy to see Porter and was certainly not because he was speaking to Mae West. Honesty was Robinson’s next course of action. He told Porter after reaching for his groin that it was “dope and it’s about to fall out of my pants.” Lo’ and behold, a sunglasses case fell to the ground containing four small jewelry bags of meth and one with marijuana, according to the affidavit. After being arrested for Possession With Intent to Distribute, Robinson allegedly told Porter that he had purchased the drugs from his contact in Drumright. His cell phone also recorded several texts involving the purchase and sell of narcotics, the affidavit reads.
