On March 10, 2016, the City of Mannford, Board of Trustees gathered to discuss scheduled business.
“We talked about approving the 2016 Community Development Block Grant,” said Tyler Buttram, Mannford Mayor. “We always use the grant to repair the roads.”
The Community Development Block Grant is usually given to the City of Mannford by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.
This year, the city plans to ask the Oklahoma Department of Commerce for about $150,000 for the street overlay.
After discussing the subject, the Board of Trustees gave a green light to move forward with the proposal and an authorization for the Mayor to sign the required application document.
As part of the grant proposal procedure, the Board of Trustees agreed on possible action to approve designating “April is Fair Housing Month” in Mannford.
“We had to do that to receive the desired grant from the Department of Commerce,” Buttram added.
Also, the Board of Trustees nominated the City of Mannford manager, Mike Nunneley, to become a candidate for the Board of Trustees of the Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group for three-year terms commencing on July 1, 2016.
“The Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group is a company, which provides services insuring cities in Oklahoma,” explained Buttram.
The next city council meeting is planned on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the City Hall at 6 p.m.
