I have recently learned that Mannford Town Administrator Mike Nunneley has lost his battle with cancer. As the former publisher of The Mannford Reporter print newspaper and current publisher of the online edition, I feel it is only proper to report his passing.

The Best Interests of the Citizens

I worked with Mike on various stories during the five years of publishing the paper. Mike and I rarely saw eye to eye and our opposing views caused both of us many issues over those years. However, I always believed Mike to have the best interest of the citizens of Mannford at heart.

I did not know Mike in social situations, and I do regret this and wish things had been different between us. However, there are many warm comments about Mike on social media, and so those who knew him must feel blessed to have known him in that capacity.

Background

Mike was able to bring new commerce and further Mannford into the future in many ways. I do hold a certain respect for Mike for his tenacity and service to the Mannford community. Mike passed away on May 1, 2018. He served as Town Administrator from 2005. He was named as the Oklahoma City Manager of the year in 2015 and inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame for City and Town Officials in 2017.

I offer my sincere condolences to Mike’s family and friends.
